Choral Reading:

Strengths: Modeling first but having the students following along with their own book. Each student has their own book to follow along. Students are reading with more confidence since they are reading the same time as their peers and are not put on the spot.
Weaknesses: Students are told the name of quotation marks instead of asking them if they remember the name and what they mean. Students are all reading so it is difficult for the teacher to hear each student to see if they are all participating and reading correctly.

Shared reading:

Strengths: Students are discussing the text together so they can collaborate.
Weakness:Teacher is calling on students and not asking students that aren't raising their hands. Also, it is difficult to give individualize instruction when they are all reading and answering questions together.
